Copyright complaints
Last updated 22 October 2026
Bunku respects the work of filmmakers, musicians and every creator. If you believe something on Bunku infringes your copyright or other rights, tell us and we will act promptly.
This procedure is our own voluntary commitment. Bunku is not a member of a recognised industry representative body under Chapter XI of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, so the limitations of liability in that chapter do not apply to us.
How to send a notice
Email legal@bunkuentertainment.com or write to Abraxas Technologies (Pty) Ltd, 50 Long St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, 8000, South Africa. Please include:
- your full name, address, telephone number and email address;
- the work you say is infringed (for example the title, and who owns it);
- the exact page address (URL) of each item on Bunku you want removed;
- the right you say is infringed and how;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is true and correct, and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them;
- your signature (a typed full name is enough by email).
What we do
- We review every complete notice and, where it is valid, remove or disable access to the item promptly.
- We tell the person who uploaded it and give them a copy of the notice (we may remove your private contact details first).
- If the uploader believes the notice is wrong, they can send us a counter-notice with their reasons and contact details; we pass it to you and may restore the item if the matter is not taken further.
- We close the accounts of repeat infringers: an account against which two or more valid notices are upheld within any 12 months. We may also suspend or close an account at once where an infringement is particularly serious, even on a first notice.
Please make sure a notice is accurate. A notice that is knowingly false may make the sender liable for the harm it causes.
